From the perspective of production and business licenses, as of the end of November 2017, there were 2,317 health food production licenses across the country, and a total of 4,304 production/sanitation licenses for cosmetic manufacturers.

 

The annual report mentioned the registration and approval of health products and cosmetics. In 2017, a total of 797 applications for initial registration of health foods were approved, 1101 applications for registration were changed, and 348 applications for registration continued. In 2017, a total of 2,537 applications for special-use cosmetics were approved, 979 were continued, and 2,510 were changed; 12,683 non-special-purpose cosmetics were approved for registration for the first time, followed by 3,163, and 1,300 changed.

 

We all know that false advertising is also a “stricken area” where health products are illegal, which is also the object of recent crackdowns by the regulatory authorities. It is reported that in 2017, the country had approved 7,029 health food advertisements, transferred 2,312 illegal health food advertisements to the administrative department for industry and commerce, and cancelled 40 health food advertisement approval numbers.

 

The annual report details the complaints and reports. In 2017, food and drug regulatory authorities at all levels handled a total of 880,000 complaints (including health foods) for foods, filed 31,000 cases, and closed 31,000 cases. A total of 58,000 drug complaints were filed, 4,825 cases were filed, and 4,737 cases were closed. Accepted 15,000 medical device complaints, filed 834 cases, and closed 828 cases. A total of 31,000 cosmetic complaints were filed, 1105 cases were filed, and 1,213 cases were closed.

 

In addition, in 2017, the food and drug regulatory authorities investigated and punished 257,000 food (including health food) cases with a value of 680 million yuan, a fine of 2.39 billion yuan, and confiscation of illegal income of 160 million yuan.
