Herbalife announced the renamed plan to increase emphasis on "nutrition"

 

(PRNewswire-Newswire) Beijing, March 6 (Reuters) - Herbalife (NYSE: HLF), the world's leading nutrition company, announced today that it will seek shareholders' approval to officially change its name to Herbalife Nutrition. In recognition of its growing leadership and expertise in nutrition, the Herbalife name was changed to emphasize "nutrition" on a prior basis with a view to building the global leader in nutrition.
 
Gu Li Shi, Herbalife's Global CEO, said: "The new name will better reflect our common goal of making the world healthier and happier, and at the same time, better conveying our strategic and investment orientation as a nutrition leader. The company is making this arrangement based on the current strength of our global operations and, more importantly, our confidence in Herbalife to create a brighter future. "
In the meantime, Herbalife also announced several strategic initiatives to enhance shareholder value. Its board of directors approved Herbalife's capital structure improvement program to reflect the booming business trends and optimistic expectations of the company's future. Like last August, Herbalife will make an offer again to repurchase more Herbalife shares. In view of the current Herbalife shares hit a new high, the company will seek shareholder approval, as in 2011, the same stock split.
 
In addition, Herbalife headquarter just released its message to benefit the Chinese market before the Spring Festival that it will invest 600 million yuan to set up its first "China Influence Investment Fund" to boost its business development in China and meet the challenge of public policy such as obesity make a contribution. The investment fund will focus on the following areas: the acquisition of health products and companies; nutrition club development; technology upgrading; research and training support; and government and non-governmental cooperation to eliminate obesity.
